types of cats Polydactyl
Let's be realistic, polydactyl cats give the best high fives. Uh, high sixes. Polydactyls, also known as "mitten cats" or "thumb cats", have a genetic mutation that gives them more than the usual number of toes on one or more feet. Polydactyl cats can have six to eight toes per paw. The extra toes sometimes give the impression that their legs have thumbs. Although polydactyly can occur in many different animals (including humans), it is arguably the sweetest in cats. The writer Ernest Hemingway was convinced that he owned Polydactyls himself, and Ernest Hemingway's house and museum now houses about fifty Polydactyl cats.
